November 1st, 2011 Time of Use Rates
Ontario is introducing new Time-of-Use rates to help smooth "peak demand". With rates based on off-peak, mid-peak and on-peak periods, you can now decide when & how to best use your electricity. So if, for example, you run your dishwasher and laundry after 7 pm and on weekends (off-peak) you'll pay a lower rate. "Off-peak" use will also reduce the strain on our system and help the environment by reducing the need to build excess electricity plants and transmission towers. For more information visit http://www.ontario.ca/powersmarter or call 519-631-5550.
The OEB sets electricity prices and Time-of-Use periods for the province which may change every six months.
Time of Use Rates
Beginning with your October 2011 consumption period you will be billed on Time-Of-Use rates. This pricing will be reflected on all bills you receive beginning in November.
Time-of-use rates & periods are published and set by the Ontario Energy Board.

Tree Trimming
St. Thomas Energy conducts a tree trimming program in and around the city through the winter months on a yearly cycle. Trees in the vicinity of power lines are trimmed to reduce the potential tree-related power interruptions and to protect the public from limbs contacting energized circuits. Never trim or climb on a tree that is in close vicinity to power lines. St. Thomas Energy has selected Davey Tree to conduct this year's trimming. The work will commence January 24, 2011 until March.
