Shopping for Electricity
If an Electricity Broker comes knocking on your door trying to get you to sign a contract to purchase electricity from them, don't sign anything or give out your Energy account number until you have considered all the information. We have prepared some questions you can ask this broker to find out if you really do want the company they represent selling you your electricity.

Ask the Broker These Questions?
- What is the name of the supplying company for the electricity?
- Does the company have a valid Ontario Energy Board license?
- How long has this company been in business?
- How many customers do they have right now?
- Where does this energy come from?
- Are environmentally friendly sources of electricity available and what will these cost?
- What are the terms of the agreement?
- What is the length of the contract?
- When does the service begin?
- What is the price per kWh and will it vary?
- Do you have to pay a fee to switch?
- When and how are the savings calculated and paid out?
- Is there any signing bonuses or other promotions?
- How is the contract cancelled?
